Moldova's Presidency remains without spokesman
Igor Zaharov, the spokesperson for President Maia Sandu, announces that he will conclude his position at the end of 2025. It has not yet been announced who will take over the office.
In a public message, Zaharov says that the decision is related to personal and family priorities, after almost two years of intense work in communication and foreign policy.
“I thank President Maia Sandu for her trust and for her personal example of seriousness and consistency. I am deeply grateful for the way she has constantly raised the bar and asked all of us to be fair, responsible and connected to the reality of the people we work for. We are, without exaggeration, lucky to have such a leader, not only in comparison to our past, but also in relation to international standards,” he stated.
Zaharov also said that new stages are coming in his career, noting that the most important project for the country stayed Moldova's accession to the European Union, a process that requires the involvement of communities and citizens.
Igor Zaharov was appointed on December 26, 2024, by presidential decree, to the position of spokesperson for the President of the country. Previously, Zaharov held the office of advisor for European Affairs and Strategic Communication for the President.
