Forty children from the Diaspora have participated in this winter's edition of the Yearning for Traditions Programme, organized by government’s Diaspora Relations Bureau. During the six-day camp from December 24 to 29, the children engaged in cultural and creative activities meant to familiarize them with the holiday traditions of Moldova.

The Yearning for Traditions programme is intended for children and young people aged 12 to 17, who live abroad, from families originating from Moldova. This year's edition includes children from France, Ireland, Italy, Germany, the United Kingdom, Portugal, Spain, Norway and other countries.

The programme included meetings with popular artisans, visits to museums, creative workshops, as well as interactions with other children from different localities of Moldova. Today, participants in the Yearning for Traditions camp visited the government building with a programme of carols and traditional New Year wishes. The children were welcomed by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Eugen Osmochescu, Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu and Secretary General of the Government Alexei Buzu.

The PM emphasized the importance of maintaining the connections between children living abroad and the national traditions, values, and culture.

Now in its second edition, the Yearning for Traditions Programme addresses the growing interest of Diaspora communities in maintaining their connection with  Moldova. Through this initiative, children and young people from the Diaspora have the opportunity to rediscover national traditions and pass them on to future generations.
