Foreign Affairs Ministry provides information on four Moldovans stranded on mountain in Romania

The Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) reports that, according to data provided by the Embassy of Moldova in Bucharest, four Moldovan citizens are stranded on the mountain, in Călțun Refuge, Arges area, Romania, and announces that the rescue team is moving to their location, with the intervention estimated to occur in about one hour.

According to the cited source, the four citizens are in good health and the weather conditions are favorable.

The MAE specifies that it maintains constant contact with Romanian authorities and will provide updated information on the condition and safety of the Moldovan citizens.

Four citizens of Moldova have become stranded in Călțun Refuge, after setting out on a trail towards the Negoiu peak. Presently, the men are in a refuge, awaiting the intervention of mountain rescuers.

According to Arges mountain rescuers, the four Moldovans have no medical problems and are safe at the refuge point.

“We have organized an evacuation operation for December 29 morning. The first response team from Salvamont (Rescue) Arges, stationed at Capra Refuge, will start moving towards Călțun. A team of five mountain rescuers from Pitesti will also depart to support, equipped and prepared for an operation in bad weather conditions, with gusts of 130 km/h, snow transport and low temperatures. We hope the weather will assist us in carrying out the mission with maximum safety, both for the rescuers and the evacuees,” reports Salvamont Arges.
