The soldiers of the third contingent of the National Army, deployed in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission, have returned to the Republic of Moldova, landing last night at Chisinau International Airport, where they were welcomed by the Commander of the National Army, Brigadier General Vitalie Micov.

According to the Ministry of Defence, Vitalie Micov thanked them for “the professionalism and dedication they demonstrated in carrying out the mission in the theatre of operations”.

The institution stressed that participation in such missions demonstrates the Republic of Moldova’s commitment to international peacekeeping efforts, praising “the courage and dedication of our soldiers who represent the country and the National Army with honour”.

The Republic of Moldova has been participating in the UNIFIL mission since 2017, contributing with rotating contingents. The operation aims to monitor the cessation of hostilities along the Lebanon-Israel border and to support the Lebanese authorities in maintaining order and security.
