State authorities will continue to intervene firmly and in a coordinated manner wherever needed. The safety of citizens remains our priority. The message was conveyed today by Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, in the context of icy conditions in localities across the country.

This morning, the Prime Minister visited several social institutions to speak with those involved in anti-slip operations about the measures undertaken. The official assured that actions will continue so that citizens can move around safely.

“These days put us all to the test. Every short trip becomes a concern, every step requires attention. I extend my deep gratitude to all those who have been and continue to be in the field, day and night, for our safety: police officers, carabineers, firefighters and rescuers, National Army soldiers, road workers, energy sector staff, doctors and social workers, Border Police officers and all the teams involved in interventions across the country. Thanks to your efforts, this morning thousands of people were able to reach work, hospital, and home safely. We will continue to intervene firmly, in a coordinated way, and wherever needed. The safety of citizens remains our priority,” stated Munteanu.

National Army soldiers and employees of the Police, the Carabineer Inspectorate, and the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations are intervening today in Chișinău, Bălți, Comrat and Cahul, upon the request of Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu. They are involved in clearing sidewalks and access routes to hospitals, polyclinics, health centers, pharmacies, and public transport stations.

According to the State Hydrometeorological Service, the Yellow Code for icy conditions remains in force until 9 February 20:00, and weather conditions may continue to affect road traffic. In this context, the authorities are urging citizens to avoid non-essential travel.
