PHOTO // Exhibition dedicated to national poet Mihai Eminescu inaugurated at Moldovan parliament's headquarters

An exhibition dedicated to the national poet, Mihai Eminescu, titled, Mihai Eminescu – an Emblematic Figure of Romanian Culture, Poet of Universal Value, has been inaugurated at the parliament. The exhibition is organized in the context of the declaration of the Year of Mihai Eminescu, marking 175 years since his birth.

The exhibition aims to promote Mihai Eminescu's personality and bring to the forefront items from the fund of documents of the Mihai Eminescu International Academic Center, presented in several sections.

Visitors to the parliament will be able to discover Mihai Eminescu's manuscripts—38 volumes and 16,000 pages of poetry, prose, drama, journalism, translations and correspondence. The Regal d’Art: A Cultural and Artistic Treasure collection, divided into two sections: Regal of Poetry and Regal of Wisdom, contains artworks illustrated by renowned painters.

Among the exhibits, there are also some of the books that have been translated into over 80 languages, as well as a rich collection of children’s poetry. The exhibition gives opportunity to discover various facsimiles, as well as numerous seals, medals and badges immortalizing Mihai Eminescu's image. In the collection of exhibited documents, there is also the encyclopedic dictionary, Mihai Eminescu, authored by academician Mihai Cimpoi, a renowned Eminescu scholar. The exhibition also includes the sections Perpessicius, the Most Valuable Editor of Eminescu's Works, and Mihai Eminescu and Veronica Micle – Synchronized in Love and Destiny.

The exhibition is organized by the Parliament of Moldova, in partnership with the Mihai Eminescu International Academic Center and the Municipal Library B.P. Hasdeu. The works are displayed at the Parliament Museum and can be visited till August 1, this year.

The parliament declared the year 2025 as the Year of Mihai Eminescu, in order to commemorate the 175th anniversary of the national poet's birth, considered a symbol of national and universal literature. The document stipulates that, throughout this year, various cultural activities dedicated to poet Mihai Eminescu will take place throughout the country.
