The statement was made in the context of today's adoption by the European Commission of the annual enlargement package, which assesses the progress of candidate countries in the process of joining the European Union. According to the document, Moldova has made significant advancements on the path to European integration, completing the technical screening phase and meeting conditions for the opening of more negotiation clusters.

The European Commission specifies that Moldova has met the conditions to launch three negotiation clusters – "fundamentals," "external relations," and "internal market," and all ten clusters might be opened by the end of 2025.

The European government welcomes the commitments of the authorities in Chisinau to provisionally close negotiations by early 2028, describing the objective as "ambitious, but achievable," if the current pace of reforms is maintained.

The Commission's report highlights progress in the areas of the rule of law, public administration reform and the strengthening of democratic institutions, also noting the strong parliamentary support for Moldova's European path.
