American support for Chișinău: Speaker meets with US Congress members
Speaker Igor Grosu continued his working visit to the United States of America with a series of meetings held in the US Congress. The discussions focused on strengthening the bilateral partnership and advancing strategic projects for the Republic of Moldova.
During the visit, Igor Grosu met with Congressman Mike Lawler (R-NY), the chairman of the Friendship Group in the House of Representatives. The Speaker emphasized the openness and interest shown by American officials towards our country, noting that the USA remains a key partner in the modernization and security processes of the Republic of Moldova.
“I was pleased with the interest I felt towards the Republic of Moldova. I thanked the United States for directly helping us make profound transformations in our country,” Igor Grosu stated.
One of the central topics of the discussions was the American support for developing energy infrastructure. The Speaker highlighted the importance of Gutinaș–Strășeni power line construction project, funded with US support.
“It is a strategic project that will further reduce our energy dependency on the east,” the official emphasized.
Grosu is on a working visit to the United States of America on 2-10 December. The official delegation also includes MP Ion Groza and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihail Popșoi.
