The weather will warm up considerably this week, with daytime air temperatures exceeding the average expected for the first half of March. Maximum temperatures will rise up to +25 degrees Celsius on 13 and 14 March.

The warm air front is caused by a southern atmospheric circulation, which will also bring Saharan dust to Moldova, a phenomenon felt in southern and central regions of Europe, including Romania.

“On March 13-15, temperatures in Moldova will oscillate from +20 to +25 Celsius degrees. After this warm period, starting from March 16-17, temperatures will return to the climatological norms for this time of year,” meteorologist Nadejda Stolear has told MOLDPRES.

Experts from the State Hydrometeorological Service (SHS) say that the Saharan dust brought by warm air masses is a common phenomenon. The dust will be present in the atmosphere, but will not be visible to the naked eye.

“This phenomenon is a usual one from a synoptic point of view, being carried by warm air currents. This time, the Saharan dust will not be visible to the naked eye, because no precipitation is forecasted for the upcoming days. With the decrease in temperatures and change in atmospheric conditions, the dust will gradually dissipate,” added Stolear.

Today, in Chisinau, the weather is predominantly sunny, with maximum temperatures of 17°C and minimums of 3°C. On March 11, variable skies are forecasted, with no precipitation, maximums of 20°C, and minimums of 5°C.
